    Dexis is seeking an experienced CSO Outreach Coordinator for an anticipated USAID project that is expected to improve the quality of public interest information available to Macedonia’s citizens by developing the reporting skills and ethics of independent journalists while fostering a culture of media entrepreneurship to build journalistic freedom and financial sustainability. This is a long-term position expected to start in April 2019. This position is contingent upon award. 

    Responsibilities

    • Lead capacity building efforts of civil society to serve as self-regulation and/or watchdog bodies for the Macedonian media sector;
    • Develop, coordinate, and implement capacity building trainings for CSOs related to media literacy, journalism best practices, ethics, and standards;
    • Lead capacity building efforts for supporting CSOs to become sustainable and self-sufficient organizations;
    • Lead capacity building efforts of independent media watchdog and regulatory institutions to effectively oversee media outlets and enforce good journalism standards and ethics;
    • Manage, implement, oversee, and direct civil society/media capacity building and the programming portfolio;
    • Develop, maintain, and support key civil society and independent media sector contacts throughout Macedonia;
    • Monitor and assess the performance and needs of civil society actors, with attention to nascent civil society entrants.

    Qualifications

    • Fluency in English and Macedonian; proficiency in Albanian preferred.
    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in international development, political science, foreign affairs, journalism, or a related field;
    • 5-8 years’ experience in increasing roles of responsibility in managing and/or conducting capacity building programs, preferably in the Balkans;
    • Demonstrated expertise in civil society development and capacity building in a complex and politically sensitive operating environment;
    • Prior experience with USAID or other donor-funded projects preferred;
    • Excellent communicator with strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills;
    • Extensive interpersonal, cultural, and diplomatic skills;
    • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
